This leads to larger volumes of rainwater collecting on flat roof surfaces, which has to be directed away to prevent damage to roof sealing. In order to do this effectively, overflows have to be kept clear even when autumn leaves are falling, keeping flat roof outlets free to drain properly.
With this in mind, we have developed stainless steel leaf guards which ensure that leaves and other dirt are not able to block roof drains. Thanks to the durable material, they are able to withstand direct sunlight and fluctuations in seasonal temperatures – influences which cause similar products made from plastic to age over time and become porous. Thanks to their design, the leaf guards also maintain a secure fit in the long term and can withstand high loads. They are available in diameters of 250mm and 306mm and can also be used on roofs filled with coarse gravel measuring more than 20mm.
The leaf guards can be installed in no time thanks to their splayed legs that can be opened to different widths. The legs of the 250mm guard can be opened to between 100mm and 130mm, while those of the 306mm guard extend from 130mm to 190mm.
The guard is first placed into the overflow pipe with the legs closed. An Allen key is then used to open up the legs, making sure it is securely anchored in the pipe. By reversing this process, the guard can be removed in just a few steps for inspection or cleaning. This keeps roof drains permanently clear and allows rainwater to flow unobstructed.
