Green roofs

Making meaningful, sustainable use of roof spaces

Whether a single- or multi-family home, a warehouse, carport or garage: all these structures have roof surfaces, some of which substantial in size, which for the most part go completely unused. And yet they are an ideal place to add an extra splash of greenery, especially in urban settings, and make an important contribution to improving the climate. Installing a green roof is beneficial not only to the environment: besides also optically upgrading a building, such planting protects the roof from external weather influences and serves as a natural air conditioner thanks to its insulating properties.
When installing green roofs, a choice generally has to be made between extensive and intensive planting. The former consists of so-called sedum – thick-leaved plants that need no taking care of and are able to hold huge amounts of rainwater. Intensive planting, on the other hand, involves roof gardens with elaborate planting comprising shrubs, bushes, grasses and small trees. Due to the nature of these plants, this option requires much larger installation heights and thus a heavier load per square metre.

We offer three integrated systems for extensive rooftop planting that lend themselves to different requirements.

Extensive green roof systems
– integrated systems for every requirement

  • available in the Easy, Terra and Bio models
  • depending on the model, systems consist of sedum mats, substrates or a water storage mat, separation and protection fleeces, drainage mats and root barrier foils
  • tailored to the scope of the respective project
  • water storage capacities of between 24.3 and 69.6 litres per square metre as standard

Silex gravel stops
– height-adjustable or fixed

  • available in fixed or height-adjustable versions
  • Silex available in four different adjustment ranges
  • Silex Fix: variant with click connectors
  • custom measurements possible

Substrate rails
– rigid and flexible

  • rigid substrate rails with three bends  per click connector that can be extended to preference
  • fixed and combination connectors available for flower bed edging solutions
  • custom measurements possible on request

Subterra branch channel
– revisable flat roof drainage

  • revisable branch channel
  • clever clip system for simple connection and extension
  • adjustable construction through use of T-pieces, corners, inspection shafts and stacking elements
  • branch channel adapters that connect to the drainage channel with the aid of cut-out sections
  • offcuts can still be used

Hydra drainage gully
– the solution for gravel fills

  • height-adjustable drainage gully
  • can be raised in combination with a base unit
  • reliable point drainage for slab flooring loosely laid in gravel fills or chippings
  • fits well with the Subterra branch channel system or drain mats
  • custom inlet widths and installation heights possible
